Two people are dead after a camel attack at a petting zoo in Tennessee, according to authorities.

The deadly incident occurred around 4:45 p.m. on Thursday, March 10, at Shirley Farms in Obion, Tennessee, the sheriff’s office announced in a news release.

Deputies responded to a call of a “loose” camel in the area and arrived to find “two unconscious victims on the ground.”

Both succumbed to their injuries and died at the scene, authorities said.

I've always wondered whether these guys thought about what the camel could do to them. I've had horses nip at me because I did something they apparently didn't like while riding them, I'd hate to think what a pissed of camel could do, as is obviously illustrated by the tragic deaths of the two folks the thread is about.

I had a herd of angry Bactrian camels try trample me in the desert on a moonlit night. It wasn’t something I’ll ever forget.

Animals bites are common with wild animals but attack from an otherwise calm animal like camel is unusual and unexpected. They may cause a severe kind of maxillofacial injury which ranges from minor lacerations to total loss of soft and hard tissues. Such incidences are frequently seen in Rajasthan, India where camels are kept as a pet. Present study throws light on literature related to animal bite injuries and their management along with our experience with camel bite injuries.
