    Helicoils simply prevent the wear and tear of steel threads of mounting hardware from engaging aluminum bodies, and provide much more strength than direct threads in those sizes. You still should use a small amount of a good quality removable threadlocker- Loctite 248 is the best choice. Don’t plaster the screws with it, a dab will get it done.

    Back in the T-1 days I glued several stripped out T-1s to their mount with JB Weld.

    It’s like covering up a bad tattoo with a bad tattoo, but it works!

    I had a T1 that I stripped. I used a helicoil for a satisfactory repair.

    Aimpoint and Wayne seem to have you covered though. It’s a great company.
