Ersie Joyner 'humbled and humanized' after surviving 22 bullet wounds

    A lot of lessons here:

Keep your head on a swivel when out in public, don't have your head buried in your phone.
    Compliance doesn't always work.
Don't expect the bad guy(s) to have mercy.
Stay in the fight, just because you are hit, it doesn't mean you are out.
Don't expect anyone to help you, after it was over the bystanders didn't help him or call 911, they just filmed him with their cameras.
You have to fight for your life.

    Ersie is a tough dude.

A good man is hard to kill.

That is one good, tough SOB.
There's nothing civil about this war.

I would add to your list, "capacity can matter." When he shot his ten rounds to empty, bad things happened. Not a J frame scenario.

Also been discussing this with others, and if you had a loved one in the car, a bad situation gets even worse.
Likes pretty much everything in every caliber.

One more thing to add for non-leo Californians, the county you live in matters!!! Try and live in a county that issues CCW's if possible. I told my wife that as long as we are stuck here, we will live in a county that I can get a CCW.

Caveat: I know depending on jobs etc. what people can get always with carrying can vary.

Besides capacity the other reason I carry bigger guns (g19/17 size) 99% of the time is that I want something that will be easier to access and use if I’ve been shot, stabbed, beaten etc.

Also....maybe be careful driving your Porsche through an area that's called "the killing fields" in Oakland.

The mother of a young man shot dead by a retired Oakland police captain said he son was wrong to rob the man, but questions whether use of deadly force was necessary.

"I want to apologize to everyone in the Oakland community who was affected by that situation," Trepania Williams told the San Francisco Chronicle on Friday of the robbery attempt on Oct. 21. "But death was not the answer."

    I beg to differ.
