    Flashlight without a “low” setting?

Let me preface by saying I understand this is a “me” issue, but it’s still an issue.

The other night I had to head outside and search the perimeter of my house because we had a raccoon and I needed to take care of it since my cat is sometimes an outside cat and raccoons are dangerous to them.

So I’ve got my .22 rifle and I grabbed my Streamlight Protac AA off the nightstand. My fault right off the bat, that’s not enough light for outside, but compounding the problem, I kept somehow hitting the tail switch the right way to turn on the “low” setting and it kept taking me 2-3 tries to get back to bright. Eventually it pissed me off enough that I grabbed my 3 D-cell maglite from my SUV.

I don’t really want to encounter this issue again in an actual emergency situation. I’m lucky it just happened chasing a raccoon. And I’ve had the issue before with Fenix lights and a Surefire light.

Is there any quality flashlight with a tail cap switch, preferably by Streamlight, Surefire, or a similar quality brand, whose switch just turns the dang thing ON and OFF. I don’t mind going through batteries.

Any of the Streamlight "10-tap" lights have a "high only" mode. The light I have on my rifle is a Streamlight in high-only (anticipating the same problem you had).

This is my EDC, and it's configured for max output-strobe.

I have yet to accidentally activate strobe mode.

The Modlite PLHv2 handheld is a great match for what you are looking for.

Many Malkoff lights to choose from that are full output only, with the option to add a bezel high/low switch.

This is just one of many excellent choices - https://malkoffdevices.com/collectio...cts/m61hot-md2

Right now the entire light option is out of stock, but they restock quickly.

Have the same pair and agree. I had immediate remorse upon ordering the Stiletto Pro But now I wouldn’t want anything else. Great form factor for daily activities.

Pretty much constant companion for me is the Surefire “E2T-MV Tactician”. Spec of 800 lumens, pressure switch for momentary, or twist on for constant. One can twist the head for like 5 lumens, but it carry a small Streamlight aaa for “admin.”

The "gas pedal" switch is by far the best solution in my book. It's either that or single-mode lights for me. Lights where you click around to select modes are DOA in my house.
