It will fit all 9mm .40 cal Shield. The gun in the photo is a Plus.

After input from forum members, shooting trials and numerous revisions the the thumb safety project is completed.
Black Nitride was selected as the coating that most closely matches the host and for its durability. The angle of the safety is with consideration of support hand and SHO. It is lowered it as much as possible yet avoids digging into the support hand in recoil and to also maximize contact between strong and weak hand.

I sanded the factory lever and added a "glob" of epoxy and it works much better.

I like the looks of it. Seems to be a good size - just a bit bigger but not too big. I’m guessing the slighly bigger size adds leverage so as to make it easier to depress for those with stiff thumb safeties? FWIW, mine is not that stiff, but I’ve read of others who have very stiff thumb safeties.

My suggestion would be to move the paddle to the top of the safety, instead of at the bottom. This will provide a much more 1911-like feel and allow the paddle to be tucked in closer to the frame and slide will still allowing a wide paddle to be there. The current iteration places the thumb safety too low in the shooting position and is unnecessarily wide, relative to what it could be.

I appreciate the machined aspects of this. I personally would setup and machine the base separately and weld on a paddle for prototyping, so that you can adjust as needed as opposed to constantly machining a new piece.

My suggestion:

Remove the rear ledge. That's a snag point. Round off the rear of the safety and make the rear flush with the extension that goes into the frame.

I am still interested in at least 2 and probably 3 or 4 per previous posts to give you #, absent a poll.

As far as finishing, bead blasting and parkerizing is probably one of the lowest setup cost / lowest labor options for your fabricator friend to apply Nd it would be a good base if someone wanted to apply air cure cerakote or other low temp coatings.

This looks great. I don't have a Shield Plus, but with this available I'd get one.
