Interesting quote. Not sure if the state has any relevance in this matter because I have no idea what the American Jewish temple viewpoint is on members being armed. I honestly just don't know. Many congregations are pacifist regardless of state of residence. In my church, this action would have been met swiftly and I am in a fairly liberal state but part of a conservative denomination.
Depends on the state and synagogue but if mine is any indication, guns are welcome. That said, I’ve got no idea on how Reform synagogues roll. If they show up at a Chabad in TX they are getting blasted…..possibly by Israelis and extremely good looking South Africans.
Bear in mind - the individual you're responding to (and at least one more individual in this thread), may have professional working knowledge of this event that you and I do not have.
Not a knock on you. Just that these threads sometimes end up with a lot of conjecture in them. And there are folks here who know more of what is going on than anyone on CNN or the NYT. And thus, if they're telling you something...or nothing...it's probably more accurate than anything else.
Thanks for the context. I actually hope this is a situation that is quickly resolved in the most expedient way possible.
I wonder if the congregation had any security plans before this happened?
