It’s priced at $500, and includes original box and the original stocks (pristine). The bore is 100% clean and sharp. The forcing cone isn’t cracked. Is this something I need in my life?

Absolutely, probably get another 3-4 hundred for it on Gun Broker! The stocks are modified Herrett's Shooting Stars with skip checkering.
I don't have the savant level of S&W knowledge that some people do, but I can tell you that a no-lock, K-frame, .357 Smith for $500 that is good shape is a good price. Whether you need it in your life is up to you.
Personally, if that gun had adjustable sights, I'd sprain something reaching for my wallet. Since it's got a notch and trough, I'd regretfully let it go, but everyone's eyeballs are different.
I was into 10mm Auto before it sold out and went mainstream, but these days I'm here for the revolver and epidemiology information.
I'd get it in a heartbeat.

If you don't like it you can pretty well get your money out of it here any time...
I think its a beautiful piece at a good price.
I'm fond of mine.
Me? Buy a gun, and sell it here two weeks later? 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I forgot to mention ZERO end shake, and good B/C gap. Also, it’s a round butt.
@Zeke38 Thanks for the grip info! They could use a shave to get them really tight to the frame, but they’re certainly serviceable as it sits.
Thanks All!
Those are Herrett’s skip checkered grips... that $75 by themselves.
ETA: didn’t read zeke’s comment upstream before I posted.
If you do t buy it, post contact info here; somebody will buy it.
