JCN is still dumb. More revolver experiments.

I credit @Polecat for this bad idea, lol.

He’s been showing me the Taurus 85 “no view” revolver which is a lightweight 1” barrel 2 finger grip unit that weighs 9 ounces and change.

They’re discontinued and used ones are like $1k which I can’t see myself doing. Plus the asymmetric grips are set up for right hand carry and I usually carry lefty revolver.

My normal pocket revolver is either an NAA PUG or a 340PD.

But what about something in between? I know, the 11 ounce J frame is a pretty good functional gun.

But what about a 9-10 ounce J frame.

You guys know I like bad ideas and I’m not afraid of an angle grinder.

And my last home cut barrel turned out just fine:

So instead of a $1k Taurus, I found a used 340PD for $800 and bought that instead with the goal of making a better Taurus No View…..

    That thing is goofy looking:

Reminds me of the little British Bulldog revolver.

    Looking forward to your experiment.

Is it wrong that I find this kind of ye olde revolver more interesting than than the 'classics' like the 1873? I would be much more tempted by a repro of the original Bulldogs than most of what's on the market now

You and I ought to chat over a cup of coffee sometime. Our heads go to some of the same places, it seems.

@JCN I look forward to your experiment.

This guy took an old Taurus Model 85 and made it smaller. Like a View, but more usable: https://tinkertalksguns.com/2018/10/...ll-can-it-get/ .

For me it’s not just size but the weight.

His experiment gave a 19 ounce weight which I think is silly since a 340PD is 11 ounces and change.

JCN, keep it up your on a mission from God! I have a little No view, put I am a _ussy my friends, after having shot my old 337 PD! I am planning on finding a used UL and using the full grip frame with stubby barrel and cylinder. I can’t wait to see how JCN’s turns out!
