    Erecting a new Alzheimer's Treatment?

Study of 1600 FDA approved drugs found that people who took Viagra were 69% less likely to develop Alzheimers.

Important to note: The author's did not say that boner pills prevent Alzheimers. It could be a false correlation - but why risk it?

At least, you probably won't forget to take your Viagra?

I'm expecting this thread to be poppin' when I come back.

Just don't pop an ammonia nitrate pill when taking the above and don't overlook risk for priapism.

Dunno if this translates (I'm English) but the irony of the first reply being from Willie, well....

Improves blood flow to the big head too.

Wonder if the correlation is similar for women.

Coming soon (so to speak) to an Alzheimer’s treatment commercial near you:

In all seriousness I would like to see a similar study conducted with arginine.

    Thoughts….

Was the sildenafil being taken as an erectile aid, or was the dosage and timing different?

People who use Viagra may have a more active social life, which is beneficial for mental function.

If increased blood flow to the brain is a positive effect, does that help explain why exercise is also beneficial for Alzheimer’s?

Wouldn't be the first time a PDE-5 inhibitor was found to have other effects.

If I'm not mistaken, sildenafil was incidentally found to have benefits for erectile dysfunction.

Originally, sildenafil was used for (and still is used for) the treatment of pulmonary arterial hypertension.

My theory is a few dudes with heart problems noticed the uh...other effects...while they were getting treated.

You guys are killing me here.

I bring you comedy gold - and y'all evolve the conversation into an actual discussion of the mechanisms that could be useful and working here.

My guess would be that, by diverting blood flow away from the brain, it allows the cortex to rest while the lizard-brain runs thing fo awhile.
