I was the campaign treasurer for a Congressional candidate in 1998. Bob Dole came to town to appear at a fundraiser. I was tasked with picking him up (in our minivan) at the airport. Wonderful man.
Sadly, when it came time to trade in the minivan, the dealer didn’t agree that a premium was warranted because a presidential candidate had been a passenger.
