Savage must have bought Honor Defense.

The saddest thing is that Savage didn't do anything to improve the Honor Defense Honor Guard. Here they have a modular design with ambi controls but they keep it single stack instead of slim double stack like the market has moved to. They don't improve the controls reach and ease of use. Totally dropped the ball. If Savage came out with a Shield Plus version with good working ambi controls that kept the modularity they might have had a hit on their hands as only the Mako R7 has ambi controls and many micro compacts are not modular.

I'm firmly in the more-options-are-better camp, but this one feels a little flat to me. I never took apart one of the HD/HG pistols. I wonder if there is anything about them that makes a red dot installation tricky? At $450-550, it feels to me like this one needed a plate to compete in the gun case at Fleet Farm/Rural King against the Mossberg, etc.
