I know this is a little late in the day for a “Giving Tuesday” post, but it is our busiest time of year, both in terms of hosting events for our veterans and first responders, but also in getting calls from concerned family members, law enforcement, and EMS personnel regarding a veteran or first responders in crisis. Holidays tend to be difficult for many folks anyway, but especially so for those fighting demons and/or unresolved trauma.

Having watched our approach to handling these sensitive situations has increased demand as word has spread, and to say “stretched our resources thin” is an understatement. While the bulk of those utilizing our services or private retreat hail from the mid-Atlantic region, we’ve had the honor of helping our heroes and their families through a mental health crisis, or hosting them at our facility from as far away as upstate NY, Texas, and South Dakota.

We typically hold a single fundraiser each year, which is enough for us to pay the rent, and keep the electricity on. When combined with our staff and Board of Directors contributions, we generally have just enough to cover our expenses for the fiscal year.

However, with the COVID shutting down businesses, and putting many people out of work, or wondering if and when their primary source of income would return, we elected not only to abstain from solicitations from our usual business supporters, and individuals, but we also found it difficult (impossible) to find a venue that would host a fundraising event, leaving the financial gap to be filled by our Board members.

So, if you are able to help us continue to help our men and women in uniform, those have hung their uniforms up for good, and their families, we certainly appreciate any help we get. No amount is too small, and we are very adept at finding $20 dollar solutions to $Million dollar problems. We also ensure every penny we receive in donations goes directly to support our programs. As a 100% volunteer organization, no one on our staff or Board of Directors receives financial compensation for their services.

And if you aren’t able to give anything now, we certainly understand times are tough. Perhaps you could be so kind as to share our organization with others, so they may benefit from what we are able to provide, or possibly assist us in our mission, either financially, or with expertise in an area where we would otherwise have to expend funds to obtain that expertise. We are also set up through “Amazon Smile”, so if you find yourself ordering an item or two from Amazon, you can sign up to elect to have a small percentage of each qualifying order donated to a specified charitable organization.

The link below will take you to our donation page on our website, and there are links to a variety of methods to make a donation, including a direct link to our Amazon Smile account.

Thank you for taking the time to read this long winded post, and for all of your support over the last few years; helping us turn an idea into something meaningful and necessary for those who sacrifice so much so we don’t have to.
