What Black Magic is in a check I can't deposit via Mobile App.

My mobile bank app will not allow me to deposit a particular check. I've experienced this before and had to go to the bank. Something about the picture of the check FUBARs the app and I'm thinking this is some sort of intentional security feature?

some checks can't be photocopied, and a "watermark" appears when it's reprinted. Maybe something similar?

I have had checks that could not be deposited because the signature interfered with the account numbers on the bottom. Could that be the case?

I had one blocked because the amount was too high. I had to take it to the bank ATM.

Also, some banks have a monthly limit on mobile deposits, and cryptic error messages when you exceed that limit.

I have had mixed results with deposit apps, most often was when I had a boss who always did a flourish on his signature which according to the bank teller, was causing it to be rejected.
