    That was JLW.

The issue is the head is a small target which moves a lot more than the body on live opponents.

Carmel-by-the-Sea, California — On October 25, 2024, Carmel Police Department received 911 calls, reporting a man, later identified as 27-year-old James Marshall, moving through the neighborhood dressed in tactical gear armed with pepper spray, a knife, a 3-foot-long crowbar, and what appeared to be a rifle. Carmel Police Chief Paul Tomasi, Sergeant Gerald Maldonado, and Officer Rene Guevara staged outside Marshall’s residence, although at the time Marshall’s whereabouts were unknown. At approximately 10:07 a.m., they saw Marshall on the sidewalk in front of his residence. Marshall moved to his driveway and Sergeant Maldonado fired bean bag rounds at Marshall to subdue him as Marshall faced toward the sidewalk. This had no effect, although later the BB rifle was found at this location. The officers chased Marshall into his backyard where he disobeyed officers’ orders despite being hit with additional bean bag rounds.

When Marshall charged at Sgt. Maldonado with the crowbar, Officer Guevara, providing cover to Sgt. Maldonado, fired five shots in succession from his service pistol. No other lethal rounds were fired. Mortally wounded, Marshall continued to resist arrest and advanced towards the officers. Further attempts to subdue Marshall with bean bag rounds and a taser were ineffective. Forty seconds after Officer Guevarra fired the lethal rounds, Officer Guevara tackled Marshall and officers handcuffed him. Officers on scene immediately began providing medical aid to Marshall and medical first responders subsequently arrived. Marshall was transported to NMC and was pronounced deceased. Marshall wore ballistic body armor with coverage to his front and back. The ballistic vest stopped at least one of the bullets fired at him by Officer Guevara.

Summary provided by the State Attorney’s Office:
"On July 7, 2023, at approximately 8:13 PM, multiple 911 calls were received describing a white male wearing a bulletproof vest, standing by a blue SUV outside an apartment complex located at 7851 NE 10th Ave, actively shooting an assault rifle into the air. These calls also described civilians actively fleeing from the shooting location. City of Miami Police officers were dispatched to the location; Officers Daniel Cantero and Diego Solano were also waived down while at the Pinecrest Bakery at NE 10th Ave and 79th Street by a civilian informing them of the ongoing shooting. Both officers put on bulletproof vests and grabbed their rifles before heading to the incident location. Officer Cantero arrived first and observed Christian Labaut (hereinafter “Labaut") wearing a bulletproof vest, with a rifle in hand, fleeing from him and into the gated apartment complex. Officer Cantero followed on foot and gave multiple commands for Labaut to stop and to show his hands; these orders were ignored. Labaut continued fleeing with a rifle in hand and entered through a gate into a common area hallway inside the building. He made entry into the first doorway on the right of the hallway which appeared to be an apartment, when Officer Cantero discharged his rifle, striking Labaut several times. It was later discovered, and unknown to Officer Cantero at the time of the shooting, that Labaut resided inside this apartment with his parents. When officers approached, an assault rifle was found underneath Labaut's body. Labaut was transported to JMH Ryder Trauma Center where he eventually recovered from his wounds and was discharged."

Man who didn't get refund at H-E-B showed up with a gun, San Antonio police said
Jesse Garza, 35, was arrested after making threats toward H-E-B staff.

A man who was upset about not receiving a refund at H-E-B threatened employees and showed up with a gun, San Antonio police said.

Jesse Garza, 35, was charged with terroristic threats and unlawful carrying of a weapon.
He was booked into the Bexar County jail on Friday.

San Antonio police were called around 5 p.m. Thursday to an H-E-B in the 100 block of North Rosillo Street for a suspicious person with a gun at the store.

Arriving officers found Garza at the location with a gun and wearing body armor, according to a police report.

Officers determined that Garza was upset at H-E-B staff about not receiving a refund for an item.

Police said Garza had called the store and made threats toward employees before going there in person.
    Officers arrested Garza at H-E-B.

There were no injuries, police said.

Some H-E-B customers shared videos and photos of the incident, saying they were ushered out the back door of the store during the incident.

An H-E-B spokesperson told the Express-News the store closed early.

"We allowed our partners to go home early last night," the H-E-B spokesperson said. "The store is open today. Please direct additional questions to SAPD."

The spokesperson said the company is grateful for officers' response.

"H-E-B is grateful to our security team and SAPD for their swift response and precautionary measures," the spokesperson said. "The situation was resolved without incident, and no injuries occurred."

Garza's bail is set at $50,000, court records show.

This incident wasn't Garza's first run-in with law enforcement. He was arrested and charged with marijuana possession in 2007, court records show.
