"Vials labeled as smallpox were discovered at a Pennsylvania lab, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said Wednesday.

The frozen vials "were incidentally discovered by a laboratory worker while cleaning out a freezer in a facility that conducts vaccine research in Pennsylvania," a CDC spokesperson said in a statement to NBC News."


We all occasionally forget about things. Rearranging the safe, discover a forgotten pistol, perhaps a rifle.... small pox vials, it can happen.

When our daughter was born in 1978, we asked the pediatrician when she would get the smallpox vaccination. He mocked us as smallpox was gone off the planet! What fools we were. We argued a bit but there was nothing to be done. The CDC says there are adequate vaccine for a possible outbreak. Hope they stored fuel air bombs also.

Eventually, it will come back.

I’ve seen stuff sit in a lab cabinet for years because “..I dunno whose stuff that is. Not my problem.” I have no problem believing it was something like that instead of an evil conspiracy.
