Need IWB holster for Glock 23 Gen 4

    Hi,

As LE, I am used to open carrying. I have tried to conceal using an OWB Desantis mini slide with larger shirts etc. but like others have said here it just isn't going to disappear on it's own.

Would I have better luck with an IWB holster? I am looking to conceal carry on a long road trip and would like it to be comfortable and as safe as possible. I know that it is natural to have a draw full of holsters but I'd like to see if I can really get it right this time. I'd like something that I don't need a belt to use if possible. I end up dressing like a slob in either sweat pants or shorts most times.

I have a medium frame but a pot belly even though I lift weights and eat right for the most part if that is helpful as far as what will fit....I don't have love handles. OK TMI maybe.

I know nothing about conceal carry besides my limited failed experience with the OWB holster.

    Thanks.

Get one of those, with full shield (trim it to preference after you use it for a while), with fixed loops or DCC clips, and if you are going to carry on the side behind your hip, with 10-15 degree cant or 0 degree if you might carry it in front of your hip, and this belt: https://www.mastermindtactics.com/sh...cialist-covert which you will wear under your no-belt sweats/shorts, etc. Works very well.

Philster. No belt needed, technically no pants needed!

It takes some time to get used to a d they might be sold out so if your trip is tomorrow or even next week you might be S.O.L.

My personal experience was a mixed bag. Never having carried appendix I found the rig to be rather comfortable and not at all visible. What I disliked was the leg leash. It never stayed in place and once it slid down your leg it was hard to take full stride steps. Some people have this problem, some don't. The other problem was the holster put the gun too low to draw fast. This is a holster problem and a different one would probably fix this issue.

Overall I'm sure it's a good design, enough people seem to swear by it. There is even an aftermarket leg leash that's supposedly better than the one supplied. My problem.....and this is a me problem. Is that I don't have the patience or interest to fiddle with stuff and keep dumping money into it trying different things. After paying $80 something how many times am I going to have to throw another $60+ at a new holster to see if it fits?

That being said there was nothing wrong with the product, this is just something that doesn't work for me.

What I use and what works for me is Galco KingTuck but it's not appendix

This is my "beltless" solution. Works with any holster at any carry position. See this thread - https://pistol-forum.com/showthread....-Now-Available

Random Thoughts form a 90%+ IWB/AIWB guy for 15+ years. Jacket and tie for work until covid.
Essentially, if I am awake and have pants/shorts on, I am wearing a pistol. The intersection of easy/fast/best/secure, IMHO, YMMV, is:

    1. A proper holster
    2. Mated to a proper belt

I would note concealed means concealed, it does not mean invisible to the trained eye at 1 meter.

The mastermind tactics underbelt w a JM kydex holster is a solid way to go if conventional looped pants/shorts are not for you.

Frankly, given the explosion of modern wicking fabrics in shorts/pants with belt loops and plenty of stretch for virtually any activity this side of competitive dance, I am at a loss why folks are hell bent are wearing a beltless pant outside of a gym/pool when carrying a gun.

I like solid loops (presently Tenicor, rubber like pull the dot except the hardware screws them down closed) far more than any clip though I confess I have used a Mastermind Tactics holster and and Sheriff of Baghdad brand holster with them for a Gen 2 G19.

I have never had a solid loop fail me. I have failed to properly clip the gun in on occasion. The anecdotes are legion re clips failing under the stress of scuffles/falls/training and spilling off a belt line when getting into/out of a car.

I carry IWB 90% of the time. My current duty gun is a Glock 19.

My two favorite holsters are these:
    DSG Arms CDC holster

    G-Code Incog Eclipse holster

I replaced the clips on them both. I replaced the clip with a strut and belt loop on the G-code. I just took off the clip, and put on belt loops for the DSG. The loops are screwed down, not snaps. I sacrificed the convenience of snaps, for the greater security of the screwed on loops.

I also cut the sweat shield off the DSG holster.

@kain...when I had to go back to IWB after 10yrs of AIWB, I bought a 19/23 Sparks SS (see copied link) on the cheap from another P-F'er. I prefer much less angle than many IWB people and the Sparks has too much for me. No pics in my phone, but I can snap one later tonight. If you're interested, I'll sell it to you on the P-F cheap as well.

ETA: I carry a G26.5 in my G19 JM Custom IWB#3 all day, every day...so Tony gets my vote too.
