    Reducing double dot glare....

PF has some smart people... @Clusterfrack

@GJM has talked about the low sun angle issue with splatter and ghost dots, especially with red emitters.

Can anyone who has the ability to test this put a polarized lens on the outside of the window (even a pair of sunglasses) to see if that reduces the issue?

I'm envisioning a camera filter, Dremel and epoxy....

Interesting idea. I’m guessing polarizing filters won’t solve the problem because direct sunlight is not strongly polarized unless reflected off a surface. However, a two-filter solution internal to the optic might work.

I saw this reference for bullseye shooters that talks about two filter solution

And I own a few Mepro M21 optics that this would bolt on to:

For $60 I might try it....

Looks like something that could theoretically be adapted for an SRO (but easier to do on a frame mounted rather than a slide mounted gun, I'm sure).

    Maybe this

    @Clusterfrack

    I ordered this for $16

Adhesive polarized film. Can put two layers down and possibly reinforce around the housing with duct tape.

Did some testing because I was curious....

With a flashlight I can create the double dot... and even a triple dot.

Test#1 I covered the lens with chapstick. It did have some effect but the double dot was still there.

Test#2 I covered the front of the lens with my tinted Oakley shooting glasses and shined the light through them. I still got the double dot

The SRO and RMR are really bad. The SRO seems particularly bad with the dot intensity turned down -- have been meaning to test with the dot full bright. The Romeo 3 Max and XL are awesome in this regard. The circle only and 8 moa Holosun 407CO reticles are not effected by this in my testing.

I took this picture of the 407CO earlier this week.

If they don’t restock them, I might fab up a hood that I can attach to my frame mount for the optic. In a pinch I could use duct tape.
