I would bet there were numerous out of state folks there smashing windows and lighting matches. One could hope the FBI would pursue folks who cross state lined to commit arson and looting.

I don’t find removing the sight to fit it in the box unusual. It should have been photographed as collected and maybe another photo with the sight removed. A line or two in the report to document the action taken. I’m not a lawyer and there’s folks on here that have the experience of being the assigned detective or case agent. In my limited experience the actions of the prosecution are not what I would expect is the nicest way I can put it.
