Is Springfield Armory bringing the Hi Power back?

To me, nothing feels better in the hand that the HiPower. My hands aren’t big enough to have ever had an issue with hammer bite. The Sig 228 feels pretty good as does the CZ-75 but not nearly as much of an extension of the hand as the BHP. I’ve learned to made due with the Beretta and the VZ and LT grips do a lot of good but as much as I love the platform it will never come close to matching the BHP in feel.

I find putting Hogue G10 checkered grips on my Sigs makes them work vastly better than the OE poly grips. The Hogues are much flatter on the sides with larger radii around the back. The OE poly grips are more ellipsoid in cross section, with curved sides and a smaller radius at the rear. You should try a set of Hogues on that 228.

I always love the slimness of a 1911, but the grip just doesn't work when I take hold of it firmly to actually do some work with it. The Sigs with Hogue G10 feel customized for my hands. I'm thinking the SA-35 might provide the slimness and balance of a 1911 with a grip that's just right.

Ha! Well, I’m not quite as deranged as your buddy (not that there’s anything wrong with that...). I did once buy an FAL because someone gifted me a bunch of .308 ammo that had been immersed in brackish water for several days courtesy of Hurricane Katrina. Still have the FAL, and some the ammo too.

ETA: I just really, really, hope that these things will feed hollow points reliably. I know SA says they have addressed that, but you have to wonder how many types/profiles they tried and in what quantity.

I found half a box of 357sig and bought a S&W M&P357 when they were still making that cal

As someone who has mostly Glocks, carries Glocks, trains with Glocks I don't get that phrase.

Glocks have their Idiosyncrasies like every other handgun. All the complaints about grip angles, finger grooves, triggers. All the aftermarket doodads, the grip reductions, the finger groove elimination....etc... Buy whatever as long as it's good quality and shot the snot out of it. Worry about the nonsense if and when it comes up.

I stopped by a LGS. He said that a very large dealer that he knows is selling what he gets on GB for $2,500 (which I'm not seeing, FWIW). He won't even put them out in his store because he doesn't want to insult his regular customers.

Anyway, this discussion took place:

Counter Rat #1: They're only shipping with high-cap mags.

Me: No problem, I have ten-round mags already.

It is basically what I expected - an SA loaded version of a P-35.

The trigger is decent but that is not surprising since the gun does not have a mag safety.

I could see picking one up to mess around with him once prices normalize.
