"It is truly outrageous that after the NFL's 10-month long investigation involving hundreds of witnesses and 650,000 documents related to the longtime culture of harassment and abuse at the Washington Football Team, the only person to be held accountable and lose their job is the coach of the Las Vegas Raiders," the statement read. "Our clients and the public at large deserve transparency and accountability. If not, the NFL and Roger Goodell must explain why they appear intent on protecting the Washington Football Team and owner Dan Snyder at all costs."

The Snyder question will dominate headlines for a while, but there's another NFL case ongoing in St. Louis against Stan Kroenke (owner of the Rams), and he and several other owners are being told by a court to overturn a lot of documents that will likely be ugly. Thus far, they're eating the $1000/day penalty (which is nothing to a billionaire), but the judge is making "contempt of court" noises.
"The fact that anyone still gives a shit about anything related to football continues to amaze me. It's a childs game that should stop mattering when you leave high school...sorry but not really."

Here's a good book on such: Why We Watch: The Attractions of Violent Entertainment by Jeffrey Goldstein | Oct 15, 1998.
Basically we are attracted to dominance behavior and associating ourselves with a group that we want to dominate others. The sports teams mark our territorial group and engage in dominance posturing.
On a similar note, it's why so many people compared about the love life of media stars. It's because we cared in the past about the mating hierarchies of dominant pairs in the pact/tribe. So we pay attention now.
Perhaps folks should join the military and experience first hand the joys of "dominance behavior"....

It's healthy and normal for people to enjoy professional sports. They can be a real benefit to the society.
Even if you hate sports (I find baseball unwatchable for example), you should be concerned by the attacks and corruption of these institutions.
