New inner belt for work and competition.

I don't know if anyone else feels this way, but I like my belts very snug, and the traditional inner belts, with the overlapping velcro, and no buckle, suck. I can never seem to get them tight enough.

At work my tac gear uses the two belt setup, and I now have a competition rig with the same system, and I finally got tired of it.

I now have two new inner belts, that work well, and figured I'd share, in case anyone else has the same opinion of traditional overlapping inner belts.

This is the commercially available solution: https://www.vikingtactics.com/product-p/vtac-u.htm

It works well, but not quite as stiff as I would like, as it is a single layer of nylon. Really its a minor issue, because with the inner belt snugged up properly, and the outer belt sufficiently rigid, it works very well.

The other solution, which also works well, was to modify an Uncle Mike's Instructor Belt:
    https://www.amazon.com/Uncle-Mikes-E...3800602&sr=8-6

For an additional $15 a tailor added the additional "fuzzy" velcro, to the main part of the belt, and the tab that extends out after threading through the buckle. Much stiffer than the VT belt, as it's double layer nylon, but not too stiff.

When you consider the shipping cost modifying the UM belt was actually less expensive, although a bit more of a hassle than just buying the Viking Tactics belt.

Also, the VT belt is 1.75" wide and the UM belt is 1.5" wide.

Anyway, for anyone else who is annoyed by the traditional, no buckle, inner belt, both of those work well for me.

Mastermind Tactics makes a nice inner belt as well. I like the 1.5” inner belts, that way they can do double duty as an off duty/edc belt.

I like the MasterMind Specialist Underbelt, and use it for my USPSA rig. Since the combined hook/loop material catches on some types of clothing, I don't use it that much for EDC.

I just ordered one of these to try:

It tears up some fabrics. Their previous model with loop, now discontinued, continues to be my every day choice.

I wanted to like the g-hook belts that Volund makes, but they are really a pain in the rear to adjust and fasten.

For my uniformed, duty-belt setup, I use a 1.75" Wilderness FF belt on my trousers, and a 2" Bianchi nylon duty belt, with 2" UM polymer keepers. I found that with all the items on my duty belt, there wasn't a lot of velcro left to mate the belts together anyway. I use 5-6 keepers, and two of them are immediately fore and aft of the holster, along with two on either side of the 6 o'clock belt loop to keep things off my spine. There is no real slop between the belts, my holster and mag pouches are rock solid, and the other items such as cuffs and whatnot have a minor amount of play, which actually isn't a horrible thing comfort-wise.

I'd been using the stiff, overlapping Velcro inner belts (first leather, then nylon) since '93. Decided to try a Blauer "Guardian" inner belt a year or two ago to wear under my duty belt...it's proven to be supremely comfortable, and plenty capable of supporting my outer belt (I use keepers at 2/4/8/10 o'clock positions).

I've been using a Wilderness Tactical Frequent Flier as an inner belt under my duty belt for about 8 years or so. I like my inner belts pretty stiff for duty wear so I opted for the version with the poly stiffener. If you contact Wilderness, they will customize their belts with either hook or loop velcro on the exterior of the belt. I had them add hook to mine so it mates up with my duty belt and it is rock solid. I can honestly say that it's one of the best purchases I've made duty gear wise as I agree the standard overlapping inner belts suck.

The Mastermind underbelt is well made but I found that the hook material was uncomfortable due to jabbing me on the edges and stuck to poly shirts bad.

I've been using the Blue Alpha underbelt with traditional soft loop on the exterior and it's working great with my duty belt. I can recommend it.

The Volund Atlas Biothane G Hook lined with hook velcro on the outside is the best inner belt I have ever used. https://volundgearworks.com/product/...-g-hook-liner/
