    If one reads even just the introduction to Canterbury Tales, it becomes readily obvious that weapons were a big part of even civilian society. Same era, and swords, daggers, and bucklers were pretty common among the pilgrims.

    That's gorgeous. I've long preferred that size and general type of blade for its versatility.
