And the winner is…. A S&W M64-8! I went to the shop selling the K6S, and it was way too small for my mitts. They had 3 M64 police surplus revolvers, and I chose the best of the bunch. Zero end shake, perfect timing, clean as a whistle inside, and it was only $425. The grips were added when I got home, and the gooey rubber grips were thrown in the garbage. Thanks everyone for your help! 👍👍👍👍
ETA: B/C gap is .008” Hey! This is a two piece barrel! I was robbed! 🤣

What it tells me is that the guns are overpriced. Maybe we’re seeing the peak of the market?
Truth be told, I’d like a 10mm because of the ability to also shoot .40s. If I had my druthers, I’d take a .41 Magnum, but the ammo selection sucks, it’s more expensive, harder to find and there ain’t no such thing as factory .41 Specials.
So if I come across on a decent deal for a 10mm, I’ll probably jump on it (and buy lotsa moon clips).

Congratulations. The 4" k frames are the best balanced to me of the k frames.
I have a 3" 65, 2" 60 and a 642. If I were looking to buy a revolver right now it would be a 2.5" GP100 or a LCRx in 22lr. I couldn't walk past a 4" 64 either
That was the plan we discussed while driving to the shop. $425 plus a 1000 rounds of .38 special sounds like a plan to me. I used gently polished the revolver with 1500 grit sandpaper, and it looks fantastic now. They did have a pre-lock M64, but its timing was off by a good margin. Thanks to all for the birthday wishes!

It looks like you’re looking for a shooter, but for a special birthday have you consider a nice condition birth year gun? I have a birth year Python is is one of my most prized pieces.
Me, too. Slow to complete time-out.
