Finnish military still uses FN da pistols along with Glock 17.
East German and Chinese Ak's are storaged for war time and Valmet and Sako assault rifles are in every day use. Some older Rk's (7,62 RK 62M)are modernized. Mostly AR style buttstocks, enhanced safety selector, optic side rail, m-lok fore end and new muzzle device.

Military still use sniper rifle based on Mosin: 7,62 Tkiv 85.

How is the quality of the ammunition that is available in Finland? Is like the dubious surplus stuff from the old Warsaw Pact countries or the sweet surplus stuff like the 7.5 Swiss GP35 ammo?

Hi JakeL, beautiful rifle and good shooting.

May I ask how do you carry a loaded Mosing in the finnish military?

The safety is very awkward and slow.

I’ve drifted back to milsurps which is where I started almost 50 years ago now. The quality and inherent accuracy of many of these guns has stood the test of time. I have a number of them that will routinely keep up with modern tuned bolt guns...with factory shelf ammo to boot. All of this done in an era where slide rules and a fine, steady hand on the lathe ruled the day.

Bighoss...nice K11! The 1911 above can routinely ring steel at 600yds with the diopter sights, GP11 or hand loads, and my aging eyes. Not too bad for something that was built about the same time the Wright Brothers flew.

Ammo for Finnish defence forces is made by Lapua. Very high quality and expensive. I use in my Sako 92S Sako or Geco ammo. Lapua cost too much.

I dont know how Mosin safety was used or was it used at all. My uncle said that they work the bolt instead but I forget how they did it. Many civil guard drills started with safety on altough.

Had a huge Mosin collection. When people started paying stupid money for them it became time to find them new owners. The last one I sold, just last year, was my M39. It was in like new condition.

I like to have M28-30, true civil guard rifle. Nothing wrong with M/39 tho. And real Suomi KP-31 but that is kind of difficult in Finland.
