    Spegel alternative

Since Spegel's are pretty much unubtanium, any good alternatives for some nice wood J and K Frame grips?

For wood? Altamont, Hogue, Eagle for mass produced solutions. Keith Brown, Herrett's, NILL for custom solutions.

If you want a good Spegel alternative that can be non-wood VZs are very similar, a tad slimmer in the cross section, to Spegel's boot grips and are basically my go-to.

Spegel’s are my favorites by a long shot. And yes, I once bought a 442 I didn’t need just because I wanted the Spegel grips on it. But I also love Herrett’s designs. If the iPad was less wonky about letting me select pics I’ve already uploaded I’d post both here now.

Save the pic to your iPad. Do these things and then select and upload the pic.

It won’t let me drag and drop the pics I already have on PF.

    Anyway.... here’s a pic of Herrett’s I frame grips on a J frame and Spegel’s on a K frame.

Had to upload the pic again to do this.

@blues has some great looking Hogue G10’s on a j frame here recently too.

Not nearly as pretty, but the G-10 Bantams (Piranha) are same size replacements as the OEM rubber boot grips that come on the current 642's and similar models. The G-10 has a nice texture without being overly aggressive.

You might call to get on the list (he quoted me about 3 years... a year and a half ago). In the meantime, get something else to hold you over.

I really like my Hogue Bantam Grips. I have 3 sets in Cocobolo.

Those do look really nice. How big are your hands and where does your pinky rest?
