When I needed a bunch of stitches last month, I drove myself to the ER one handed while squeezing a towel around my injured hand as best I could to stanch the blood.
(I wouldn't let my wife go because I wanted her to take care of the dog.)
I did have to leave my gun behind since I didn't have another hand and the hospital frowns on carrying one into the ER.
Other than that, I normally volunteer as LE for my household.
There's nothing civil about this war.
