Thread: Ghost ultimate connector , reliability?

Ghost ultimate /Edge connector , reliability?

Now I’m not one who generally puts Non OEM parts in my Glocks. But I did get to tinker with one of these and liked what it did to the Gen 4 it was installed on. Anyone has experience with these?

Stick with one of the factory connectors.

I have not personally seen a Ghost connector break, but I am aware of several folks who dealt with light primer strikes running different Ghost connectors and spring combos.

I have seen one break several years ago.
    On a range/competition gun-ok. Defensive weapon-nope!

Those links were broken. Here are the correct ones:

I don't think I've ever used the Ultimate connector, so I can't comment on that.

I have used the Ghost Edge on roughly 8 Glocks from gen 1-3, including: G17 (gen2-3), 19 (gen1-3, yes even the mythical gen 1, I had one), 34 (gen3), 42, 48 (later black slide model). I've lost round counts and haven't kept great records, but all combined across those guns and the Ghost Edge connectors specifically, I believe I'm at within 1K of about 10K rounds total. Some of the guns I've shot more or less than others (gen 1 G19, G42, and 48 quite a bit less). I'd guess that's roughly 5-6 connectors with ~1K rounds per and 2-3 connectors with 200-500rds per. I've yet to have a single problem, and have never had one of that model break. Regardless, at minimum and even when replacing with OEM connectors, always get one of the orange inspection slide plates and test striker engagement. It's the only way to be sure you're not on the ragged edge of blowing your junk off.

In lieu of a Ghost connector, some other reputable options:
    https://www.apextactical.com/apex-performance-connector
    https://overwatchprecision.com/np3-g...nus-connector/ (plated OEM)
    https://overwatchprecision.com/np3ed...dot-connector/ (plated OEM)

To avoid light strikes, whatever you do, avoid reduced power striker springs. I've played around with options from Ghost and Wolff, and it seems like even a 0.5-1.0# reduction in striker spring weight can be enough to run into issues on some Glocks (maybe tolerance stacking?).

I have a ghost rocket with thousands of rounds plus dry fire. It has not failed once. I cannot speak to the other ghost connectors, but the rocket is basically an oem "3.5#" connector with an overtravel stop.

I would echo the idea of not using reduced power springs. Reduced power springs have a pretty narrow margin of error with Glocks.

I have one Ghost Rocket in one gun (ICW a NY1 Trigget Spring) and the gun has run flawlessly for the last 2,000+ rounds.

    No experience with the Edge.

Connectors aren't ever going to cause light primer strikes, that would only happen by monkeying with the Firing Pin Spring.

Another good alternative I run in 2 other guns (also flawless, both) is the Zev Pro-Con.

I have Ghost Edge connectors on two G42s and two G43s. Absolutely zero issues. Improved the trigger pull substantially over the OEM connectors.

Based on these results I tried a couple of Ghost connectors in a G19. Intermittent light strikes in a pistol that NEVER had any issues. The OEM connector went back in and I'm done tinkering with it.

Someone enlighten me, I'm still failing to see how a different Connector has the physical ability to cause light primer strikes.

Maybe I just have bad luck, but I've tried a few different types of Ghost connectors and every one of them came with an incorrect bend angle that needed to be adjusted. That's enough for me to not consider one on a carry gun.

I've never seen this happen in person to be able to inspect gun, but just speculating off the top of my head, if the connector engages trigger bar earlier in trigger press that could cause trigger bar to release firing pin before it's fully cocked.

N=1 and all that, but my G2 G19 came with an NY1 trigger package and I put a very early Ghost 3.5lb connector in it, and that particular combo was my favorite Glock trigger until I shot a G5. Now the G2 sits in the safe.

Total round count with the G2 G19 is probably around 6-7k total. I didn't keep round counts back then.
I've had exactly one stoppage ever, and that was with an early Magpul 15rnd magazine. Zero stoppages with factory 15 or 17 round mags, or (interestingly) the Magpul 21 rounders. But I've got only 300-400 rounds through those 21 rounders, if that.
