    Glock Gen5 vent

I recently purchased a Glock 19 Gen5 for training/teaching purposes, and to mimic my UTM Glock 17's.

You would think by the 5th generation Glock would have included a trigger guard undercut to eliminate "Glock knuckle" with folks like me, instead of having me now send it to my favorite grip specialist to have the undercut performed.

IDK why Glock didn't address this when they updated the molds for the other frame changes.

    Rant off.

I don’t want to dull your rant but,

The vast amount of Glock owners don’t even know this is a issue because they don’t shoot/practice enough. I doubt Glock would change this.

On the other hand Glock enthusiasts and more experienced users have developed their own preferred way to address this with sandpaper/files and a few minutes of their time.

I rather do it myself personally.

Ergonomics are tough on a mass market gun. For example, most aftermarket undercuts feel like garbage to me, but I have no issues with the stock Gen 5 grip. I also have pretty limited feeling on that part of my knuckle due to years of daily dryfire, so that might be a factor as well.

Since this a Glock rant thread..
Maybe someone can gift Gaston a 1911 just to show what a miraculous thing a true flush fit mag is.
Maybe also gift him a P30 to show how backstraps can be removable and how excessive metal can be removed from slides.
Do we think they will EVER make a dovetailed front sight?
Doesn't read posts longer than two paragraphs.

I miss the finger grooves. They actually fit my hands perfectly and the guns always felt more secure in my hand. I think my ideal Gen5 frame would have the finger grooves of the Gen4 with the magazine cutout at the front that they had in the initial release. Did so many people really complain about the magazine cutout that Glock felt the need to remove it from the Gen5 line?

Here we see the difficulty of being popular.

I dislike finger grooves and I can give myself “Glock knuckle” in just dry fire, my hand bleeds unless I have a beavertail, and I can only get my whole hand on a 19 if it has an undercut and a magwell. The early Gen 5 guns with the moon cut on frontstrap are entirely incompatible with my grip.

The stuff I like, other people dislike, and the stuff I dislike, other people like. I love a grippy stipple job, but my sister greatly prefers the stock Gen 4 texture on her 19 over stipple jobs. C’est la vie.

I think the Zev “OZ” pattern of trigger group and rail separate entirely from the grip is the proper future of Glock, but there’s no way that “Glock Perfection” will let that happen. I’d personally most favor M&P-style thumb safeties incorporated into the design, but that’ll also never come from Glock.

The two best things Glock ever did was to get popular and to be easily compatible with RDS mounting.
Per the PF Code of Conduct, I have a commercial interest in the StreakTM product as sold by Ammo, Inc.

I view the Gen 5 in an evolutionary way as an attempt to please most users and displease as few as possible. I thought I preferred the finger grooves until I shot a Gen 5 17. The grip felt better that my Gen 3 19 I'd been shooting for years. On the other hand, the first Gen 5 19 I tried had me wondering why the grip bothered me after only five rounds when I had no problem after 30,000 rounds through my Gen 3. It was the magazine cutout. Glock knuckle for me was an issue with a Glock 36 I had but that was the only Glock that affected me. I go along with that mass market idea and, as with any brand, choose that which suits you best.

    Finger grooves never fit me.
I break and round the bottom right edge of the triggerguard to limit Glock knuckle. Undercuts don't "fit" me.
There can be enough quirks in fit and sights knocked around in the rear dovetail that I like the screw-on front for its simplicity.
@YVK, say more about the why's of the flush-fit mag?

You got my like at the dovetail front sight.

I’m a Glock shooter too. Just literally mirror what they have on the back of the gun on the front.
    God Bless,
