    Holster for optics and damage

I need to add a holster that will accommodate the optic added to my G45.

My question is has anyone experienced damaged to the optic during force on force encounters either training or real life?

Trying to decide between a holster that covers the optic with kydex vs one that has an optics cut out.

    Input is appreciated.

Open carry or concealed? My duty holsters have an enclosure around the optic, everything else - concealed or square range - are cut out.

It is for civilian concealed carry.

I wouldn’t worry about it then. All my off duty holsters have a cutout that doesn’t protect optic in any way.

Dale Fricke runs his kydex up along the RMR on his RMR specific holsters.

Not for concealed carry but my optic guns all have an exposed red dot sight. The holster is cut away so that the gun stays put but is easy to draw. There's enough tension that the gun will not fall out.

I make my own leather so I can experiment a lot to find what works for me.

Here's my 617 in my competition holster for Steel Challenge matches. I don't think I'd count on the same style for CC.
