I've got to get out more. Nobody even calls me on my rotary phone anymore to tell me these things.

Regarding the original question, I suppose we might need to define dead. Is dead all dead, or just mostly dead? If mostly dead, I would consider the 45 long colt.
"Rich," the Old Man said dreamily, "is a little whiskey to drink and some food to eat and a roof over your head and a fish pole and a boat and a gun and a dollar for a box of shells." Robert Ruark

My wife just purchased an antique book on big game hunting just because it looks cool and she wanted it as a decoration. Turns out the author is the inventor of the 257 Roberts.
Me too. I want one in a Ruger No. 1.

    -modernized hi-speed .44-40 (200grains/1600 fps from a 16" carbine)

    -.357 Maximum

I wish .25-06 was more popular.

    -.356 TSW (sorta)

I would only get excited about a .41 Special if it was placed in a k-frame sized gun with 6 shots, somehow.

I actually like mooncips, so the 10mm GP would be fine if a .40/.41 revolver itch ever gets me bad.

Didn’t that once fill the “easy to shoot deer load” niche now filled by the .243?

Never shot one, but that's my understanding of it.

That's a very crowded area these days on the Spectrum. 243, 25-06, 7mm-08, and others competing.

    I just like the name.

    Me too.

My first higher end rifle and scope combo was a Sako with a Zeiss in 25-06.

Still love to shoot it when I can.

32-20: Probably replaced by 32HRMag or 327Fed, it's still a cool old 32 cal cartridge useful for small-to-medium sized game when loaded to its capability.

    .221 Askins (Velo Dog)

It won Col. Askins the national pistol championship.

I came here to make the same joke about 45 acp. I’m a little sad you beat me to it.

I may have to post a picture of my HS Precision .25-06, that I had built up for Keneyathlon competition.
