A...demon(?) in the guise of a cute schoolgirl exacts terrible punishments on people as(apparently) an agent of Karma. A western equivalent would perhaps be a Fury or a Norn. Even the smallest and most petty sins receive merciless, horrific and disproportional consequences.
One of the creepiest shows I've ever seen as the carefree instrument of retribution gets vast amusement and malicious glee at the suffering of its targets...and is indifferent to collateral damage. Equally disturbing are the reviewers who share its glee and see the demon as a force for "justice". Sometimes it is, but often it's merely a Hellish "comeuppance". You knew better, so you get what you asked for...exponentiated.
"Nanno" at times seems frighteningly alien as she/it enforces some ancient, inhuman and incomprehensible code of conduct. This bizarre and malapropos scene, as she dances alone like Kali while other schoolkids gossip about her, is just jarring.
