If they’re like the turkeys in my yard... I think you could use a hammer.
.22 in the ear hole all day long for me. But, since they’re game birds shooting one out of season and without a hunting license isn’t something I would recommend as it’s probably illegal where you live.
ETA: the post above mine makes me thin sword. A cavalry saber would do nicely and give you a bit of extra reach.

I think it will go down to a really good dry fire.

He apparently is now my daughter’s pet turkey…
Spent the night in that corner and gifted us with a pile of poop you’d swear was from a large dog.

Though then again. - back when I lived in the country, was sitting on the deck watching a mama turkey and about 20-ish chick-lets doing the bobbing, weaving, crossing of the yard. A feral kitten is watching, too, and doing the slow stalk and edging his way up to tail-end Charlie of the chicks till he's in pounce distance and baby kitty's butt and tail start a wiggling in preparation for leaping on a fine turkey dinner. Mama turkey notices the tall grass a shifting and knows somethings not right, and WHAM! She takes to the air and dive / chases feral cat screeching down the hill. Gotta make that first shot count, man! :-)
