I read the thread title, and in my head I heard a double-chinned gruff old boomer bellow 'CUZ DEY DON'T MAKE UH 1912!'
A spin on the old 'cuz they don't make a 46!' joke about carrying a 45.
Except there is a 1912 that's a very different pistol, and I'm pretty sure a .460 Rowland counts as a ".46", but I digress.


Here I am talking smack, but when I'm dreaming about pistols that I *want* there's always a brace of different fancy 1911's in there, even some in 10mm because I'm an idiot.
Yes, brain fully understands that red dot Glocks with a Surefire or Streamlight are an objectively superior option for a myriad of reasons.
Heart still wants fancy 1911's in .45 and 10mm - so go to hell, brain!

Who’s winning?

I have been a lil bish lately with wanting something, then my tight wad part adds a few words, then trying to justify and then back to no.

My current wants is a 1301 Tactical Gen 2. A buddy bought one brand new in the $900 range. I am trying to find one in that price range. They are out there but high.

I have a Nowlin barrel SACS PPC 5” 9mil that might go and justify a Prodigy Nina, maybe (HA)

Despite having carried either plastic striker-fired guns or DAO pocket pistols for the vast majority of the time I have carried a gun, I still find that I have the easiest time making the fastest, most accurate hit on a target with a 1911.

I've seen that phenom really highlighted during the ammo shortage the past year with much lower volumes of live fire.

I have been fascinated with 1911s for years, have owned many of the best customs, took a few classes with them, was a decent hand at USPSA and IDPA with them.

Why carry a 1911? I can’t think of any good reason.

Because there were caveats to them being reliable.

In the end, it’s not a sound platform for 9mm.
