Opening fire with what? Less lethal? It looks like some are carrying and pointing rifles, but I don’t see any rioters going down.

They appeared very clearly to me to be pump shotguns, being fired at a distance of 100+ yards.

Shotguns with minimal recoil at that, so likely less lethal or birdshot.

And yet, out of that mob of hundreds only ~6 formed a skirmish line with road signs for shields. Go figure.

All they needed was a little confrontation with reality to realize they don't want none of that action.

It's almost like if you use appropriate force and don't give people "space to destroy", it works.

Whoda' thunk. Sure wish street cops experienced in riot control would pipe up with this info, could've saved us a lot of heartache over the last year and a half.

I saw one AK variant and one AR variant. I was concerned that they were going to be flanked by the clump of rioters massing to their right along that chain-link fence.

I almost yelled at the screen watch your flank when I saw that.

I was also verbally encouraging somebody to put a rifle round through one of those sign shields, much like my father used to encourage players of the Atlanta Braves while he was watching a game. I guess that only really works when it’s on live tv and not a video on Twitter.
