Here's an interesting video clip...I didn't know that SA had a sizeable Muslim population. Social media reports are presenting the situation as a Muslim neighborhood forming a posse to assist the police. In this clip, some dude appears to be giving a "They can take our lives but never our FREEDOM!" William Wallace-level rallying speech to able bodied men defending their property and families, some armed with firearms.

In the distance you can see the violent mob coming towards them.

Opening fire with what? Less lethal? It looks like some are carrying and pointing rifles, but I don’t see any rioters going down.

They appeared very clearly to me to be pump shotguns, being fired at a distance of 100+ yards.

Shotguns with minimal recoil at that, so likely less lethal or birdshot.

Amazing how quickly almost all the rioters realized they had somewhere important to be!

I saw one AK variant and one AR variant. I was concerned that they were going to be flanked by the clump of rioters massing to their right along that chain-link fence.
