    Pushing reloading data (Be-86 related)

So I've tested 6.5 and the max 6.7gr(.45 acp). 6.7 is listed at over 1000 fps but I'm getting under 900fps.

There is no +p data with 200gr bullets but it does show 7.5gr under 230gr jacketed bullets so I should be fine going up.... Right?

I’d say so. Especially if the bullet is the same length or shorter as it relates to seating depth. Where’s the data coming from...the bullet folks or the powder folks?

I’m not familiar with BE-86 but some of the pistol powders (like Clays) scare me as the curves are nothing close to being linear.

Lead or jacketed? What's the overall length? Alliant shows 7.9 for 185 JHPs loaded short and 7.5 for 185 LSWCs loaded to the same OAL as the 200s. You might try backing off from the 185 data instead of increasing the 230 data.

No BE-86 listed, but you might glean something anyhow.

I'd call Alliant Powder and ask them about + P loads and BE-86. That may not be the right powder for that application. They have some + P loads using Power Pistol.

Generally the heavier bullet will generate more pressure so I would assume that everything else being equal the same charge for a lighter bullet would generate less pressure......but just to be on the safe side I would call them. They may have some test data that isn't published and would share that. I was one of the first to use American Select for 45 ACP and they gave me some suggestions about loads. Up until about 2009 almost nobody was using it for pistol powder except Jerry Miculek.

Using the Hornady data for FMJ looks like a winner. Lead would probably be a little faster with less pressure.

NO, Not without calling the tech line of the powder company. A few years ago I was loading .45 colt. Max load for one powder had a velocity of 700 something. I called company asked if I could increase load for more velocity. Ruger Vaquero Bisley. Tech said NO, pressure spikes above that. I left it alone. Switched powder.
