SLG looks very in control with that .458.

PTR, I remember running a field course at Gunsite, shooting a dozen rounds of .458 Lott in just a minute or two. I was half dazed afterwards. PTR being "before torn retina," means I am no longer doing that these days.

Zeroed the Micro on the Browning today at 50 yards. Reminds me of a modern HK SL-7. Should be an awesome tundra center fire option.

If Ruger came out with a variant that had backup irons on the barrel like the CZ527 does, I would buy it in a heartbeat

I am right there with you. Nodak Spud made irons for the Ruger Americans for a short time before getting bought out. Skinner makes irons for them but the front requires a gunsmith install and the rear doesn't work along with a scope mount. We'll just have to pester Ruger to make a version with backup irons.

Looks slick. When you mentioned the SL-7 it reminded me of the SL-8, which is just a G36 made to comply with US import restrictions. Unfortunately the thumb hole goes against most ban states so you'd have to block that off.

On the plus side, they look cool. New they run about $1500 which is steep but a lot of the things we've talked about aren't much cheaper. Tommybuilt Tactical has a few bits that will fit the SL8s so you can tinker with it a bit. They even have STANAG magwells.

Oh, hell - I was talking to them about these some time ago. I had no idea they were gOne.

You have discussed a semi auto walk around rifle before looks like a cool set up

Did you consider the Benelli R1?

    How does this one run?

I figure in my state (Washington) this is the future of battle rifles.

They got bought out very recently. Kinda sucks because I really wanted a RAR with backup irons and I liked the ones they had.

Me too. I don’t remember the particulars, but the version I wanted wasn’t out yet. Hopefully PSA will keep the sights in the line.
