    Any Reason NOT to “14-2”?

    Cliff note version:

Have the chance to pic up a 6” 14-2 from a friend-of-friend. Looks like (thru conversation) a mid-60s vintage. Most likely a Simpson reimport. Haven’t personally looked yet, but told lockup etc seems ok. Finish decent. I know zip/zero/nada about K-38s and never really seemed one out, but this kinda fell in my lap. Wants like $650 for it

Advice from the gallery on this?

No reason not to, and that’s a fair price for a 14-2 in good condition.

    Buy that gun.
Assuming it checks out, that's a more than reasonable price for a great revolver.
If you decide you don't like it, that probably would not last 10 minutes offered for sale here.

6" adjustable sight K frame like that is a fantastic range toy, and it sounds like the right vintage. Price is very good for the present time.

    Thanks all.

I don’t own a K Frame. Only N Frames. I’ve read enough here and elsewhere though to ask more on the K Frame “hardiness”. Will this thing be OK with heavier handloads (say...6.0gr Unique/158gr SWC) or is more of a “148gr wadcutter” pistol? I’d like to use it for a field pistol. Not a grizzly-stopper, but would like to run decent field loads thru it. Not sure if the 14/K38 had anything designed different than any other K frame...say like the 19.

    Thanks much.

    6gr unique under a 158 is way over max. 5.2-5.4 are +p.

Yeah...after I typed that, I stopped a minute to think what the h&ll I just said. Sorry. Like you stated, I meant decent +P level loads on occasion and NOT a steady diet. My usual +P load is 5.4gr Unique/158gr LSWC. That’s for my .357 SP101 as well.

To paraphrase Will Munny in “Unforgiven”, reason’s got nothing to do with it. 😁😁😁

A fair price for a Model 14-2, imo. It’ll handle +P loads. But don’t go over that.

Way back before the earth cooled I think Lyman actually listed that load. I never owned my own copy of that manual, but friends did.

Clarify, I am in no way advocating this, just a point of trivia.
