Anything in particular to see after 5pm or any restaurants not to miss in Shawnee Oklahoma?

There are others who know more re this area. My father grew up there and I have visited a few times for various reasons. I would offer the following:

    1. Bricktown Brewery is a solid choice re bar/comfort food and adult carbonated beverages

    2. Boom a Rang has great diner/breakfast food.

    3. What a Burger because there are none where I am from.

    4. POPS -it is in Arcadia, about 45 mins north of Shawnee so it might require too much of a detour. 700+ different bottles of Soda + diner food in a very cool physical plant.

    5. Firelake Frybread Taco-It is on an indian reservation outside of town. Kind of like a big four corners town of its own. Casino etc/Gas Station/Grocery Store and strip mall/Tribal Offices etc.

Bonus rec- If you are traveling with kids 12 plus, we always took at least a driving tour around any town we stopped in that had a college campus so the kids started to develop a frame of reference.
Be advised-this practice is what set the hook for my twin daughter to go big city/urban and her twin brother to go small town/Christian. Shawnee has Oklahoma Baptist University. 2000 Students.

If you plan on traveling armed, be sure to check the gun laws for tribal lands you might decide to visit.
Most of the OK lands I'm familiar with are no-gun zones, but IIRC, you're ok driving through on the interstate and US highways.

There is a Brazilian Steakhouse in the Firelake casino. I’ve never been but I have heard decent things.

The Butcher BBQ Stand in Wellston is national award winning, it’s a little west of Shawnee. They have odd hours and only serve until they sell out so if you are thinking about going check their hours and get there early.

I’ve never ate at the Shawnee Bricktown Brewery but regularly eat at their other locations. Food is almost always good, the chicken fried steak and chicken fried chicken are stellar if you are in a gluttonous mood (ask for a side of gravy) the Turkey bacon avocado club is a good “lighter” option. As mentioned they brew their own beer and also have a good local selection.

I have lived in Shawnee almost 60 years and unfortunately there isn't much here to do or see IMO.

I tend not to eat at the trendy places so if that is your thing just ignore my recommendations.

There is Robb's Smokehouse BBQ that has good food but the place is nothing fancy at all. That doesn't bother me.

There is also a great old place downtown on Main St. that is well known for it's burgers. Hamburger King. Once again nothing fancy by any means but good old fashioned food.

The best Mexican food in town is at Abuelita Rosa's at I-40 and HWY 177.

There is the Farmer's Daughter in Tecumseh, just a few miles south, that is fairly popular. They have bbq on certain days and lots of good homemade type desserts. There other food is a little bit too froo-froo for me. They also have a little shop where they sell all sorts of goodies.

Those are about the only places here that stand out from the fast food and chain restaurants.

If you're into museums at all you need to check out the Mabee-Gerrer Museum of Art. It's not very large but they have a very interesting and diverse collection. I work there part time and most visitors are pleasantly surprised to find such a hidden jewel tucked away here. If you're not into museums, I totally understand. They're not really my thing either.

I hope you enjoy your visit!

I always get the ribeye, it doesn't break the bank either. It's been awhile since I've been there but everytime has been great.
