Anyone notice the Beef prices lately?

I went to Costco yesterday because I thought I could get away without wearing a face diaper. Turned out I was one day early.

I was shocked when I saw the price per pound for skirt steak, $12.99. I've seen it vary seasonally between $5.99 & $8.99 but never this high. Beef must be the new plywood.

We shop beef when it's on sale and stock up. Freezer in the garage.
    Prices are definitely up recently.

NY Strip was on sale two weeks ago for $12.99 (as I recall)

    Yikes! That's a "sale" price?
We're truly spoiled here, I guess.

Angus Skirt is on sale for $5.97/lb this week at Kroger.
We routinely see different cuts at around $5.99 on sale... Ribeye, T-Bone, Strip, etc.

Last year we bought a 1/4 of a steer from a local farmer, which worked out to be about $2.99 a pound if I remember correctly.
We are still working through that supply so I have not looked lately.

No, I haven't actually noticed the prices. Since the wife and I switched to Crowd Cow and started having beef and seafood delivered once a month on a subscription I haven't bought anything (meat wise) besides chicken at Costco in ~2 years.

We were already paying a premium for our beef here locally and for very middling level-quality meat. Crowd Cow is a premium service but we're getting higher quality meat for our dollar. We can't actually eat everything that comes in our box once a month, so at this point we have about a 2.5 month supply in the freezer.
