Rangemaster Defensive Shotgun Instructor Development Course

Interest in the serious social shotgun has been rising lately, as more people become concerned about defending their homes and places of business. This is the exact role where the shotgun really stands out.

We have a Three-Day Shotgun Instructor Development Course coming up on October 8-10, 2021, at an excellent private training range facility in White Hall, Arkansas (Pine Bluff area). This is a modern, well kept range, with a very nice classroom. Lots of hotels nearby.

This is three days of intensive training with the shotgun. In the classroom, we will cover history, nomenclature, modifications, accessories, ammunition, patterning, proper maintenance, operation, and shooting technique. We also cover adult learning, coaching technique, and other topics specific to teaching the shotgun. On the range we’ll learn a set of techniques to use the shotgun effectively and efficiently under stressful conditions. This class is also a great deal of fun. See

This will be a great class! Ed Monk has a really nice facility with some nice hotels less than a 15 minute drive from the range. His classroom is heated and airconditioned with porcelain bathrooms, no less!

And you get to yell "Boom chuck chuck!" What more could a person possibly want?

DSG Arms in Fort Worth had 12 gauge Winchester AA birdshot for $79 a case plus shipping. So ammo is coming back as well.

We finished up an outstanding three day long Defensive Shotgun Instructor Development Course today. We had 19 students from 11 states, and all worked hard in the classroom and on the range.

We were honored to have Rob “Double-Ought” Haught and his son, Matt, in class. I love to see vetted, experienced trainers still taking training as students. That is one of the marks of a real professional.

Nate Parker won the hotly contested Top Gun award with a perfect score on both his buckshot and slug qualification shoots and a perfect score on the written test. Attaboy!

It was a great class, and my shoulder isn’t even sore.
