I had an ER nurse in a class. I noticed she kept taking all head shots. Her response when asked why, "'I've seen too many people who have been shot in the chest putting up a fight in the ER." Point taken.
This is a very thoughtful discussion. I agree with you both on this, that the argument about benefits is being framed through the lens of selling the products. I agree strongly with Eric that the benefits in actual shootings will come down to the officers ability to process what is happening to their target, and enable that adjustment in response sooner than it might have come otherwise. As far as preventing mistake of fact shootings...Low Ready is still your best friend.
