depends on where you live I guess

The casting on the fence post that held my flag broke back in March in one of our violent spring storms, and the flag came down, I have not replaced it yet, but 7 out of the 10 neighbors on my 2.5 mile road have stopped and asked me if it was vandalized, they know I have multiple cameras and would have captured it.

I don’t disagree that showing public support for LE might be asking for trouble in some way. But I think that this very mindset of remaining silent in the public square is how we have come to this sorry pass where we have the left rioting in the streets and men using the women’s restroom while conservatives stand by and watch. This to the point that flying the American flag may, indeed be a bit of a rebellious act.

For my part, I’m done being “quiet”. Having eschewed even bumper stickers for most of my life, I am actively shopping for a tattered American flag decals to go on either side of the truck; probably going put a big damn flag on the back door of the cargo trailer, and plan to install flag pole on the most prominent part of my property once I get moved to my new place. A blue porch light? Count me in.

First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a socialist.

Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out— because I was not a trade unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

I don't think it's quite at the same level as that...

While I don't have blue lights on my porch, (and I'm certainly not afraid of anyone's opinion in the area I live in), I would never leave a brother (or sister) in blue abandoned in the street if I were passing by and saw they needed help.

During the 2020 Summer of Love, a neighbor texted me that flying my American flag could potentially cause trouble in the event Mostly Peaceful individuals entered our neighborhood. Unfortunately, depending on where you live, simply displaying an American flag is risky business.

Since JohnO was quoting me, and you are responding to him… Actually, I had some version of that quote breeze through my brain (such as it is) when I posted. No, we are not there - yet. But I think we are on the path to destruction when upstanding people are cowed, by whatever means, into silence about “little” things, such as support for law and order. And I wonder if the brothers and sisters in blue would need as much help in the street if the goblins knew that, as a community and society, we are not putting up with their bullshit - and LE has the full backing of the community as they handle business. I think the “little things” matter (sort of like the Broken Window policing from the 70s).

During the 2020 Summer of Love, we did not have much activity locally, but I made it a point to throw a thumbs up to every cop I passed while out and about - just to let them know that not everyone wanted to square off with them. I think that sort of thing is important. As I get ready to retire and move to the sticks, I look forward to meeting personally with the local sheriff and finding out what I can do to support the S.O. I absolutely abhor virtue signaling - especially when it comes from “my people”. There needs to be some action in addition to any “attboys” we throw out - which I believe was the thought behind the “Fuck your coffee” comment (that I was not necessarily a fan of, but understood the sentiment).

Bottom line - I think the good people of this country need to stand up and be counted/heard and let the shitheads know that they aren’t getting this land without a fight. If there are consequences for that, so be it. Mainly, I’m just tired of being quiet while all the ne’er do wells seem to monopolize the megaphone.

I have so much to say about this but i'm coming off shift and i'm tired.

After your sixth report of the night and your 40th call for service. A stabbing, a shooting, a dude waffled by a train to the point where you're attempting to identify body parts not by type but by presence of flesh. Add in a guy dragged by a car to the point where he had no flesh left on his lower half and the ensuing foot chase to apprehend the suspect. It sure is nice to drive home, exhausted, spent and ready for bed. On your drive home, you pass a house flying a thin blue line flag.

It's nice to be reminded that there are people out there that think of us.

We live in a hateful, angry, petulant society filled with villains that seem to have the real voice. I don't want more victims. I want you to vote. I want you to participate in the system. I want you to raise respectful, well rounded empathetic children that will change this society into something better. I want this more than I want the overt displays of solidarity.

    You are appreciated regardless.

I've seen those and the fact that they were 'distressed never registered, I thought they were just artsy. I may get some.

I have flag decals on vehicles and trailers, and fly one at home 24/7 except when the wind gets too severe. Beyond that I'm try to stay grey, I have 11B5Y as a plate on my street glide but no one knows what that means.
Adding nothing to the conversation since 2015....
