The M380 specs out at 16 oz, and the LCR 9mm at 17.2. Do you feel the difference in the hand? How thick are the cylinder walls?

Also, the SAAMI pressure spec for 9x19 is 35,000 psi, and .357 magnum is listed as the same, at least according the LASC website. Of course, .380 is only 21,500.

The LCR9 is still a light gun, but very noticeable difference.

You are right about the 357/9mm. I think I misremembered the caution about not running +P 9mm in a 357 gun.

I don’t know if I would count on a Taurus to be overengineered to handle the extra pressure.

I don’t have any experience in say trying to run a 357 out of a 38 designed gun. I’d expect it would be similar.

I think if I were really looking to try and get a 14oz 9mm snubby I would start with a Smith J-frame in 357 and have that cut for 9mm moon clips.

    Delicious!

So with $8 of springs and some rubbing compound, polish, stone and dry Teflon as well as a Dremel buffing wheel...

    It’s delicious. 8# smoooooth trigger.

    Better!

Okay, so after the upgrade was able to split down to 0.23 and stay on target.

Was also able to put four alpha one Charlie at 20 yards. The Charlie I knew I didn’t have a good trigger press.

I think the light strike issue is because of the aftermarket moon clips that don’t hold the rounds tightly or flat.

Will try again after getting TK clips and if still an issue then I’ll up the spring rate.

I am very much liking the gun, though!

    @john c
After having taken it completely apart, I don’t think there’s any extra engineering in there and I wouldn’t shoot anything hotter than 380 in it.

I don’t know if I’d trust it not to blow up under high pressures.

That being said, it’s super shootable and mild like a 38 J frame...

So why care about this over a J frame?

YMMV. If someone only owned 380 semiautos in this pandemic era, I’d have no problem recommending this over a J frame from an ammo standpoint over a 38 that they might not be able to find commercial SD ammo.

And I think there is probably going to be a distinct advantage in ability to reload under pressure with the 380 but I’ll have to wait for better moon clips.

It also seems like the gun doesn’t like being dirty in the cylinders.

    TK moonclips

So the moonclips I got from gunmagwarehouse even though they said 380... are pretty clearly 9mm.

Got the 380 moons from TK and they fit great. Looking forward to trying it again and seeing how the reliability is.

    This is a fun gun.
