Thread: 1911 Specialist Break-in question? 10mm

What does that evidence look like? I only have 100 rounds thru it but have cleaned and lubed 3 times; 0 rounds,50 rounds and now 100. There are no marks on the barrel lugs or interfacing frame slots. I don’t see anything unusual on lower lugs (at link) where the barrel strikes the barrel bed or the lower lug strikes the vertical impact surface. I assume eventually there should be some wear pattern. I watched a Bill Wilson video with his personal 1911 and he was showing wear pattern on lugs. But he had 60,000 rounds thru his😄

    FYI my DW did this.

Never bothered me because it cycled fine during live fire.

No DW specific input, but I had (still have) a new out of the box 3 1/2" Colt product that malfunctioned like clockwork (it was alarming for a bit considering the short Colt 1911 reputation), failed to go "completely" into battery & many, many stovepipes (well lubed all the time) till I had close to 200 hardball rounds thru it and has been rock solid reliable every since with various bullet profiles (I do the normal 3 1/2" Colt spring changes).

My 9mm specialist did the same thing for the first couple hundred rounds and the Wilson Combat mags with the heavier springs made it worse, it'll loosen up eventually.
