Looks like he had a GoFundMe up for his family around Christmas. Not sure what the circumstances were, but he was obviously having a tough time. Sad deal.

I know what CCR stands for , who the original post is about and who Baraka James is , I also read the entire thread and much of it is referencing the band CCR.

Here is a new go fund me for the family...and has some more to the story, sounds like he also took the house with him. I can't even comprehend what was going on in his head

This is such a shock to hear. He always seemed like a really good dude with a good head on his shoulders, and doing great work with his podcast. This is probably one of the last guys in this industry I would have expected to see make that choice, but we can't always know the stress and pain going on in someone's life that leads them to this.

Sometimes we think we’ve got problems and we look at someone else and think how well together that person is. Then something like this happens. It’s humbling and makes one even more aware that we really don’t know what someone else is dealing with.

May God have mercy on his family.

There is a skillset magazine podcast from last fall with Baraka James as the guest. He goes into some detail on his life history.

Wow, just came across this update. Listening to CCR podcasts made my long daily commute a bit more bearable.

I looked it up and found the interview and podcast: https://www.skillsetmag.com/skillset...l-me-the-odds/

Damn, did he have a brutal childhood with an physically abusive stepfather.

This is very, very sad. Especially burning down his house when he has a wife and kids. Of course, none of it is a rational decision. I had heard a bunch of his podcasts and always found him to be listenable, engaging, and seemed to have a good head on his shoulders.
