Off Duty / On Duty Episode #50 - with Erick Gelhaus

Colonel Jeff Cooper was arguably the most influential figure in modern defensive handgun training. The Combat Triad I personally feel is the barometer by which I evaluate my journey in the Defensive world. Erick Gelhaus a Staff Instructor from Gunsite joins me this week to analyze and emphasize why YOU should understand the Triad and how to apply it.

That was a great appearance, I appreciate your perspective.

You mentioned the inoculation effect on LEOs of consistent physical altercations with criminals. I suppose this tailors in with discussions of the Fear Biter concept.

Could you expand on your ideas for how civvies might go about obtaining a degree of inoculation? We have lots of ideas on this forum about use of timers, competitive shooting, training combatives, FoF training.

Wonder if there are additional ideas you may have in this area, since genuine unexpected life or death stress of this sort is hard to simulate.

    Thank you sir!.

In addition to all of what you mentioned (competition, hands-on training, force on force), I'd add in hunting. Anything with the potential for failure & some stress.
