Well, having just seen the video evidence thanks to the supplied link, it was pretty clear she made a mistake under pressure. Shouting "taser, taser, taser" but firing her sidearm followed by her immediate (following) remarks. There's really no other conclusion to be drawn.

Recent update says the officer intended to deploy a Taser, and the shooting was an ND.

Media shit storm going on now that the Brooklyn Center chief has announced it was and "accidental discharge". Said she (officer) fired one round from her duty weapon, when intending to discharge her Taser.

In the BWC video she clearly warns the suspect she's going to tase him though she is seen with her Glock in hand. Then afterwards states ‘Holy S**t, I Just Shot Him."

Noticed the other officer was wearing his taser crossdraw on the left side.

Oh for fucks sake...A negligent discharge?

Cue: Someone calling to replace all handguns with Tasers; so this can never happen again.

Cue: Someone else calling to disarm all police officers, British style, so this can never happen again.

Cue: The actual reality that some departments will update UOF and location of carry of a Taser so that 'this can't happen to us', followed by what is in effect the wholesale cessation of Taser carry and use, because it's just more weight on the belt that can't even be used properly anymore.
