    Ruger Stock question

I have a Ruger GP100 that I purchased several years ago. It came with the orginal box and had an extra set of stocks in the box. The extra stocks look like regular full sized rubber stocks with the wood insert, but they are two pieces instead of the one piece that is on my WC GP100. The one piece stock is below. What is the pin that fits in the area with the blue circle.

The two piece stock is pictured below:

The pin doesn't seem to do anything.

The stocks are basically the same size. I am going to order a set of the compact stocks.

I had an ER nurse in a class. I noticed she kept taking all head shots. Her response when asked why, "'I've seen too many people who have been shot in the chest putting up a fight in the ER." Point taken.

It is a take down pin. With the grips off, cock the hammer and you will see a hole in the end of the hammer strut. Place the pin in the hole and lower the hammer. you will then be able to remove the strut assemble. This is also detailed in the instruction manual under disassembly.
