    F-150 offered as a convertible

    https://fordauthority.com/2021/04/20...r-4x4-vehicle/

Yes, it's an April Fool's bit. But it did get me thinking, "would I buy this if it were a real thing?" I suspect...maybe. I had a '75 Blazer, and that's one of the years the entire top came off as opposed to just the part behind the front seats. It was both heavy and cumbersome to remove and re-install. Obviously modern materials and modular design would alleviate some of that, but still a full sized truck/SUV top is going to be...large.

So, if this was a real thing would you bite?

I’ll occasionally get convertible-curious, but a ragtop seems like a heavy compromise for a daily.

A Blazer/Bronco hardtop vert would have my complete attention, though.
Per the PF Code of Conduct, I have a commercial interest in the StreakTM product as sold by Ammo, Inc.

I guess the Jeep Gladiator is sort of the modern "done more right" version of the mid-size truck with removable roof concept.

As an 80s kid, I kind of like it. Needs a half cage in the back with KC lights on top though

Next up for April Fools, the new Mustang will be an electric station wagon. Oh wait...

I remember seeing one of these driving around my hometown when I was in high school. I always just assumed it was a one-off custom job. I had no idea it was a factory option.

That story gets it wrong, though. ASC was actually American Sunroof Company https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_Specialty_Cars, not American Sunroof Corporation. The "Corporation" is just a local installer shop in San Diego.

Definitely needs the roll bar, KC lights and a locking-center console stuffed full of mini-uzis and ammo. I’d buy it, grow my hair out and perm it then make sure my headband was tied extra tight so it doesnt blow off as I’m rolling down the highway at speeds well in excess of 55mph.
im strong, i can run faster than train
